College of Business Breaks Ground on New Addition

UCO continues to adapt to the evolving needs of the student population with the expansion of its existing Business building through the UCO Foundation and a generous donation from UCO alumnus Ronald Armstrong.

Central broke ground on the Business building addition at a ceremonial groundbreaking, marking the beginning of construction on an atrium and student enrichment addition designed to enhance student experiences and learning opportunities.

The 7,700-square-foot building addition, scheduled to open in spring 2026, will transform the space to better serve College of Business students, featuring a new student lounge with a fireplace, a recreation area, study rooms and a state-of-the-art golf simulator room for the PGA Professional Golf Management program.

UCO Earns Designation as a Research University

UCO recently received the Research Colleges and Universities (RCU) designation in the 2025 Research Activity Designations published by the American Council on Education (ACE) and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

A part of the Carnegie Classifications of Institutions of Higher Education, the RCU category is a new designation that includes non-Research 1 or 2 institutions that spend more than $2.5 million on research annually. UCO is among only 216 universities nationally and two in Oklahoma to receive the designation.

“Research conducted at University of Central Oklahoma moves our state and nation forward. For years, our faculty and students have engaged in innovative and impactful research on the undergraduate and graduate level,” said UCO President Todd G. Lamb.
